The Great Northern Conference 2022 will take place on Wednesday 3 November at University Academy 92’ in Manchester.

Now in its fourth year, The Great Northern Conference is hosted by The Northern Powerhouse Partnership and National World, It will continue the debate on how best to grow the economy and build a greener, fairer, equal future for the North.

Bringing together key politicians, business leaders, academics and thought provoking influencers, The Great Northern Conference will influence the direction that the North of England takes as it rebuilds in a post Covid-19 landscape.

The conference will continue the debate on how best to grow the economy and build a greener, fairer, equal future for the North by tackling some key themes including:

● Education
● Health
● Sustainability
● Skills
● Transport

The conference is an opportunity to present a united front across the region and is designed to encourage networking, debate and knowledge sharing to create a stronger, more collaborative region.

This is the first time Manchester will host the conference which has previously been held in Leeds, Sheffield and virtually in 2020.

Henri Murison, Chief Executive of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, said: “After months of uncertainty over the levelling up agenda, the Great Northern Conference is our chance to make a case for real devolution and investment in the north of England to drive up productivity.

“It’s also an opportunity to hear from the north’s leaders and thinkers across the public and private sector as they discuss solutions to some of the biggest issues we face in tackling the north-south divide including connectivity, net zero, innovation, education and skills.

“We’re facing serious economic challenges and we need to make sure that the new Prime Minister’s government and the opposition can share their commitments to making the North the solution, not let it remain a problem.”
