Advice on dealing with the potentially devastating psychological impact of the pandemic will be provided in a free webinar for business leaders.

Hosted by Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership (GM LEP) and The Growth Company, The Business and Wellbeing Webinar will take place on Tuesday 16 March at 11.30am.

COVID-19 has presented a challenge unlike any other for Greater Manchester business leaders, forcing abrupt changes in how employees work, how customers behave and how supply chains function.

Many businesses have been forced to close or furlough staff, leaving owners facing uncertainty about their employees’ jobs and their own livelihoods.

Building on research by the School of CEOs on the psychological impact of COVID-19 on senior executives, the webinar will explore the current and future challenges, mapping out how support mechanisms can be developed across Greater Manchester to support business leaders.

Speakers at The Business and Wellbeing Webinar will include Lou Cordwell, GM LEP Chair and CEO of the Manchester-based digital design studio magneticNorth, who will share her own experience of running a business during the pandemic.

The event is being chaired by Ian MacArthur, Head of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter.

Laura Earnshaw, a leading thinker on the mental health of children, teachers and their parents, is set to speak at the event. Earnshaw is the Founder of myHappymind, an NHS-backed organisation, and the author of the best-selling book My Happy Mind.

Gemma Sole, Partner at School for CEOs, an executive education provider which helps equip senior professionals with the tools they need to perform strongly as leaders, also joins the panel.

Lou Cordwell said: “This event is a valuable opportunity for business leaders to learn how they can better manage their own wellbeing, and that of their teams and families.

“Covid and its knock-on economic effects have left businesses dealing with a whole new set of challenges. It’s important that we complement the practical support on offer to business leaders with advice on how to deal with the mental challenges posed by the pandemic and the period of economic recovery that follows.”
